Beginning exercises to loosen up

  1. Choose 1 colour, make a horizontal brush stroke from left to right of page withour stopping! Continue over lines! Dip brush in water (don’t wash the brush just take up more water).Make the same brush stroke leaving a tiny strip of paper between line 1 & 2 so that the paint doesn’t run. Add more water and another line.
  2. Use the tip of the brush move 2 cm then apply pressure for 2 cm then lift so that the brush is almost off the paper. Choose a different colour and paint lozenge shapes. On the third line touch the brush to the previous (wet) paint so that the colours flow.
  3. Completely wet the paper, dab out an area with a paper towel, drop paint into the wet areas to mingle on the paper.
